Hello, my name is Akua Koranteng. I will be turning 40 on November 26th. I am a philanthropist at heart and have spent most of the year deliberating on what to do and how best to give back in a way that makes a meaningful difference to those less fortunate.

I run an NGO which raises funding for and on behalf of a selection of community-based initiatives in Gauteng whose focus is on the betterment of children through education and places of safety. This year, in the midst of COVID, the NGO turned 10 and we celebrated #ADecadeCaring.

#ADecadeCaring would not have been achieved without the support and collaboration of corporates, family and friends.

My wish for the next #ADecadeCaring is for the NGO to be more impactful and broader in terms of countrywide reach.

All my deliberation has culminated in me committing to running 40km on the day of my birthday to raise funding for my NGO in the process. The NGO is registered as a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) and as such all donations are fully tax deductible.
