ABOUT
Do you want to better care for your own mental health? Are you looking to equip yourself to better care for people who have experienced trauma, are suicidal or struggling with their mental health? Want to understand how you can play a role in preventing exploitation for vulnerable people?
Join us for a 3-day mental health summit with workshops covering Human Trafficking Awareness, Trauma Recovery Training and Mental Health Awareness which will also cover Mental Health First Aid. This training is useful for counsellors, therapists, church leaders, community leaders, NGOs, local and national government officers or anyone who wants to know more about mental health and trauma for their own benefit or to help others.
This training is being delivered with support from our partner Scottish Charity Restored Hope Zambia UK, so our trainers are all from Scotland with Zambian connections and backgrounds in Mental Health, Trauma Care and supporting trafficking victims.
The summit will be from 21st to 23rd November 2024 and you can attend all 3 days OR just 1 or 2 days.
Day 1 (Thursday 21st November) - Human Trafficking Awareness - Joy Gillespie
This training will strengthen your understanding of what human trafficking is, its scale and how to identify signs of it in your work. This is ideal for anyone working with vulnerable people who are usually at risk of being exploited and trafficked.
Day 2 (Friday 22nd November) - Creating a Place of Safety for Trauma Recovery - Aileen Fleming
This training will enable you to have an understanding of the impact of trauma on a person’s BODY, SOUL and SPIRIT. You be equipped on how to secure a ‘Place of Safety’ (the foundation to recovery) and begin to take charge of your own recovery and help facilitate recovery for others. This is ideal for survivors of abuse or those experiencing any kind of trauma and those seeking to help someone who has suffered trauma in their personal lives or context of the work they do at church, work or in the community.
Day 3 (Saturday 23rd November) - Mental Health Awareness Course - Mark Fleming (CPD certified in the UK)
Covering mental health first aid including suicide intervention skills; explains mental health and how it affects you and gives you an understanding of depression, anxiety disorders and self-injury and how to help those experiencing this; and how to have positive mental health. This is ideal for anyone looking to learn more about mental health for themselves or to support others.
