Over two decades 2 young authentic South African and very traditionally cultured music duo, MXO & SLIQ Angel took an advantage of their respective talents and love for each other’s work. They decided to travel a musical journey through the discovery of the best of their musical talents and took it to public spaces, various stages through free styling and jamming around South Africa.
After making names for themselves as soloists in their respective careers, they later came together to form a musical movement called Roots 2000 which was initially established in the year 2000 to share and celebrate their Xhosa heritage with the world through folks, acoustic, Alternative and rooted sounds. They have since transformed from boys to men that makes them to be greater MEN in the entire South African music industry and toured continents like Asia, South America, Africa, the UK, US and Europe.
Their inspiration comes from having faith in each other and comradeship, as witnessed through their passion, magical eclectic energy on stage and brotherhood. Their sound is Afrocentric, Soulful, eclectic and very Poetic. ROOTS 2000 is plainly a celebration of their culture and tradition that spans over the past 24 years.
