Fundraising for Sophia's battle with metastatic cancer
In February this year, Sophia Aloo was dealt a devastating blow when she was diagnosed with stage IV (four) metastatic breast cancer. The diagnosis, and the physically draining treatments she has undergone so far, have, however, not dampened Sophia’s innate fighter spirit. She is always in good spirits and determined to survive this. Sophia is, however, currently unable to work and, as the breadwinner for her son Marley and herself, is in need of financial assistance for their living expenses and her upcoming medical costs. As a way of helping her financially, a fundraising breakfast will be held at The Wild Fig Restaurant, on Saturday 11th of May from 09h30 to 11h30.
A dedicated single mother, with an unwavering work ethic, Sophia has been a part of the Wild Fig family for 16 years. To thank her for her friendship and dedication - and in the hopes of seeing her return to the workplace she loves so much, and where she is so loved and respected - all staff (managers, waiters, kitchen and bar staff) will volunteer their time working at this breakfast fundraiser. Tickets prices start at R300 with all proceeds going towards Sophia's fund. The ticket price will include a simple breakfast with juice followed by coffee and a sweet treat.
