This annual dinner is a wonderful winter-warmer event for members and friends of the Herschel Alumnae Union, current pupils, their parents and Herschel friends and guests to enjoy a meal together, while listening to a talk by one of our dynamic Herschel Alums.
Speaker Melanie Rice is a veteran journalist, executive producer and TV anchor and will be addressing us on - Fact or Fiction: Behind the Scenes of TV News
With 25 years of experience in the broadcasting industry, Melanie Rice is a veteran journalist, executive producer and TV anchor. Melanie graduated from Stellenbosch University with an Honours degree in English. She completed her Masters degree at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in Chicago.
She started her career as a Washington correspondent, before joining Etv in 1998. Melanie hosted several shows on Cape Talk/ 702, and worked as an international correspondent for global network, TRT World. She is best known as a reporter, documentary maker, executive producer of ‘Judge for Yourself’ with Judge Dennis Davis, and as the national news anchor of Etv’s flagship news bulletin, Etv News at 8.
Melanie and her husband, David Dalling, have three children. Kate (15) Nicholas (14) and Lucy (11) They live in Cape Town.
