After a 3 year hiatus due to the unbelievably bizarre circumstances that were Covid we are finally resuming our events!
The Fruitcake Society is on a mission to bring you genius ideas, mad theories & controversial subjects, we want to create thought provoking events by inspiring individuals, that make you think a little differently, question everything & never blindly follow.
Join The Fruitcake Society on the 9th June for a gripping talk... as we delve into the depths of the most dark & devious minds with acclaimed South African forensic, investigative psychologist and author Micki Pistorius, profiler of the station strangler & other South African serial killers.
After a decade of chilling first-hand research, Dr Pistorius has gained spectacular insight into the inner-workings and motivations of people who are driven to kill. The talk will explore the psycho-sexual developmental phase of childhood and its link to homicidal tendencies in adulthood. Using real-world references from some of the nation’s most notorious cases, Dr Pistorius will provide you with an understanding of how innocence turns to depravity, how good can succumb to unthinkable evil.
The age-old debate of nature versus nurture will also be tackled. Are killers a product of their environment? Or does the capacity to kill live within them from birth? For a macabre and fascinating journey into the crime scene and beyond, join us.
VENUE | The event will take place in The Tiger Lily Room at The old Biscuit Mill. Join us for pre drinks and dinner at either The Purveyors (Steak & Pizza Restaurant) or Redemption (burgers) Both are below the event space. Please book with your restaurant of choice should you plan to join for dinner. An usher will come collect you at 6:45 for the start of the event at 7pm. TIME | Please arrive from 6:30pm. The event starts at 7pm sharp
PARKING | There is secure parking at the old biscuit mill (paid but limited). There is free secure parking across the road at the college (directions). There is also safe parking outside the old biscuit mill.
All proceeds for this event will be going to Dr Pistorius's charity of choice - Sons of Issachar NGO, who assist the people of Mitchell’s Plein. Any financial donations, clothes, blankets or food will be collected at the talk. Sons of Issachar is a registered NGO run by Kurt Olivier, son of the late AJ Olivier who investigated the Station Strangler case in Mitchell’s Plain. AJ and his wife passed away from Covid.
