The Cape Town Concert Series is proud to present Dmitry Shishkin for a unique piano recital in the Cape Town City Hall on Saturday 24th June at 11am.
Dmitry Shishkin, silver medalist at the 2019 Tchaikovsky Competition, is internationally critically acclaimed for both his creative and individual approach to music, as well as his brilliant piano skills.
His achievement in the prestigious 16th International Tchaikovsky Competition which followed first place in 2018 at the 73rd Geneva International Music Competition where he performed with Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, has established him as one of the world’s most sought-after pianists. He is also performing for the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra as part of its Winter Symphony Season on 22 June.
His programme for the Concert Series begins with:
Scarlatti Sonatas K1, K466, K380 and K319, followed by
Les Trois Mains and Le Rappel des Oiseaux by Rameau and the first half completes with
Bach-Busoni Chaconne in D minor.
After the interval he continues with
L'isle Joyeuse and the Suite Bergamasque by Debussy before finishing with
Scherzo No.2, Op 31 and Polonaise Op. 53 by Chopin.
The morning concert takes place on Saturday 24th June in the Cape Town City Hall, starting at 11am. There is reserved parking available on the Grand Parade and refreshments will be on sale in the foyer.
