ABOUT

Would you like to know how to run your urban garden in one hour? This workshop is for you! Xola , a green ranger from Organic Matters and Abieda from Bo-Kaap helpers garden. Will share their knowledge on how to manage your own garden in a sustainable way.


Come join them at the Bo-Kaap on Leeuwen street at th top of the road there you'll find a park and in the beautiful little squared urban garden. That's the Bo-Kaap helpers garden started by community volunteers. Ran by the lovely Abieda, she's the caretaker of the urban garden and an avid gardener, a nature lover with an affinity and immeasurable love for all things big and small growing from Mother Earth.


Come meet the residences of this lovely neat garden, butterflies, lady bugs and a turtle.


This workshop will cover :

30 minutes of presentation :

- Introduction of urban food garden

- Presentation of the plant species

- How and when to tend to plants

- Explanation on how integrate pest management works

- Why do we need compost and worms farm?


20 minutes of activities :

- Plant seeds into seed trays

- Plant a tree

- Weeding


10 minutes of tea (provided)

- Koesisters

- Rooibos tea
