a brand new out of the ordinary event!!! Hiking & camping weekend away!

Ever wanted to visit the beautiful South Coast and the Transkei?

Place: The Pont, Port Edward

Time: 10am

What is included: your entry,& 2 nights camping fee, bonfire, braai & skottel (bring your own food),3x guided hikes (Mini Red Desert, Transkei Day Trip & Umtamvuna Nature Reserve). Ferry fee (if needed) . Professional guiding+local guide. Return transport to Wild Coast Sun (hike no1)

Traditional lunch at homestead is R100 extra per person (needs to be booked in advance&paid in cash)

details of the hikes:

1: Transkei Day Trip: appr 15km Grade 3 (due to distance)

Duration: appr. 8 hours (incl return transport)

2: Umtamvuna NR:: appr 8km Grade 2-3

Duration: appr. 3-4 hours

3: Mini Red Desert 3km 1 hour Grade 1

Please note that moderate fitness is required for no1 and no2 hikes. No beginners or casual hikers will be allowed!

What to bring::

for the hikes: snacks, water or cold drinks, a cap, a backpack. also a phone or camera to capture all the beauty!

Hiking boots with good grip. a hiking stick is recommended. please bring one OR purchase one from us for only R290.

Water shoes for crossing rivers (also a small towel to wipe your feet)

Fishing gear if you want to fish in the river.

For camping: all your camping gear (tent,sleeping bag, mattress, lights and whatever else you think you may need. All your food and drinks.

Prices:

2 men tent R300 for the weekend.

Sleeping bag+ mat R150 per set per weekend

Please note that we need 8 confirmed bookings to go ahead with this event. If quota is not met, event will be cancelled and refund will be processed.

No refund or credit if you are a 'no show'!

If event is cancelled due to bad weather, it will be re-scheduled and new date will be given.

Grading Of Hikes:

Grade 1 Easy. Minimal fitness required

Grade 2 Not too strenuous. Moderate fitness

Grade 3 Moderate. Physical fitness advisable

Grade 4 Strenuous. Physical fitness essential

Grade 5 Very strenuous - high level of physical fitness essential
