The Johannesburg Chamber Music Collective is proud to present Sonatas for Two featuring the sonatas for two violins by Eugene Ysaÿe, Darius Milhaud, and Georg Phillip Telemann performed by our very own Dieter Hendricks (violin), the ground-breaking Tzu-Fan Tang (violin), and Kerryn Wisniewski (piano).
The sonatas by Ysaÿe, Milhaud, and Telemann are true masterpieces of the genre, showcasing the beauty, versatility, and virtuosity of the violin.
Darius Milhaud's Sonata for Two Violins, Op. 15, is a work of stunning virtuosity, full of rhythmic and harmonic surprises. It is a true tour-de-force for the violinists, with its intricate melodic interplay and fiery virtuosic passages.
Eugene Ysaÿe’s Sonata for Two Violins in A minor, Op. posthumous, is a hauntingly beautiful work full of intricate melodies and beautiful tone colours.
Georg Phillip Telemann's Sonata in G Minor for Two Violins is a work of pure beauty, with its lyrical melodies and elegant harmonies. This work features many moments of tenderness and passion and showcases the expressive capabilities unique to the violin.
