Interview on SABC:

I started as a small-scale farmer, but through the lack of access to viable land, I soon realized that my business was running at a loss. While the main purpose of my business is to maintain healthy eating habits and to

contribute towards food security in my community. Through my farming experience, I met a beekeeping friend who got me ‘hooked’ on my love for bees. I joined the Flame Programme during the Covid pandemic and managed to become a certified beekeeper. That's when my beekeeping business (BeezMove) was born.

I intend to train our youth, particularly young women, to empower them at an early age and to provide them with a means of employment. I intend to employ these people at Beezmove from early next year, by then

they will have qualified as certified beekeepers and the business will grow.

BeezMove is more than just providing a source of nutritious natural food, it’s about dignity and respect for ourselves and the environment in which we operate. Hence we are bringing “ A Beehive of Opportunities”.

Our Values: to serve our community and clients with respect, integrity and kindness

Our Promise: To provide honey that has been ethically farmed to the highest health and safety standards

Our Goal: To establish and grow bee hive farming with local farmers

Our Vision: To establish and manage social enterprise development programmes supporting our local community in training and job creation through beehive management and farming.

We need 40 hives to place 2 in each 15 market gardens we targeted. Already we’re working with 1 and there are 3 more interested. We can't reveal much due to the recent vandalism that left us with Thousands of burnt bees and a beehive. This beehive of opportunities” is bringing pollination to maintain quality food standards, Training and job opportunities, local honey for numerous health benefits.

The humble bee has provided mankind with 2 specific benefits:

• Without pollination of our crops by the bees, our food supply chain would be severely impacted, and

• Mankind has developed a ‘sweet tooth, there is nothing better than raw natural honey being harvested from a hive (versus artificially manufactured sweet products) and used in our consumption.
