Ending Period Poverty | A Conversation About Women's Health
Wed Aug 17, 17:45 - Wed Aug 17, 20:00
Neighbourgood Cape Quarter Workspace
ABOUT
“There is a feminine dignity crisis in South Africa. UNESCO estimates that one in ten girls in Sub-Saharan Africa miss school during her menstrual cycle, due to not having sanitary protection. Up to twenty percent of school attendance in a calendar year is missed as a result.”
Join us for a talk about Period Poverty, Hosted by Komani - who sustainably produce and distribute reusable sanitary pads and provide them to school girls living in poverty, as part of a menstrual education and support programme. Komani pads are also sold to working women, who choose reusable pads as a more economical and environmentally friendly solution.
This will be an important opportunity to engage with others on issues that affect women's health around our country!
