ABOUT

Join us at Constantia Neck for a fun and informative morning on the trails,, guided by Shafeeqah and her team.

We are very excited to say that; this will be our first intermediate level Salomon Hike Club, aimed at those with slightly more hiking experience and fitness in comparison to our previous hikes. If you've been at any of our previous Hike Clubs you can expect the intermediate level hikes to be; longer, include more climbing and descending ,be slightly faster in pace.

If you're a Hike Club regular and ready for the jump up to intermediate hiking, then we can't wait to get onto the trails with you again!

If our previous hikes have been too entry level for you, then we look forward to welcoming you at Salomon Hike Club!

Total hours: 3.5 - 4 hours

Overview

Constantia Corner is all about the beautiful views, rock formations and the fynbos. There are a few scrambles but nothing difficult. It is a route up the south-east corner of Table Mountain with views including Hout Bay, Orange Kloof and the City of Cape Town.

It is not the easiest of hikes as you will need a bit of fitness to get you through it. There are a few short steep sections that require you to use all fours - making this route a fun and thrilling full body hiking adventure.

Route description:

From the parking lot, you will make your way up the tarred road towards the jeep track. Go straight up the steps to your left until you rejoin the jeep track. The perfect warm up to get those legs and lungs ready. From there turn left and walk towards the end of the jeep track. Follow the path slightly right through the fynbos and up the ridge-line of Constantia Corner.

It is a steep climb with a few short scrambles. When reaching the top, the path will take you through undulating fynbos and sandstone boulders like the famous "camel rock". You will reach the De Villiers dam and then descend via the jeep track back to Constantia Nek parking lot.

Please note:

- The above distances and times are estimates

- The route is subject to change based on weather conditions and/or group's ability and other factors that may influence the hike

- This is NOT a beginner hike as some general hiking fitness will be required to get you through the steep sections

- Make sure you arrive on time as we will start the briefing at 7am and leave at 7:15am sharp
