Lost in Translation: Supporting FAL learners in an English LOLT classroom

Wed Aug 4, 15:30 - Wed Aug 4, 17:30

Event is online

ABOUT

Only 8% of the South African population speaks English as a Home Language. This means that the reality in the South African classroom is that most of our learners are learning in a language that is not their own. Supporting these learners can be a daunting task, especially when you are unable to support them in the language that they are most comfortable in because you yourself are unable to speak it.

This webinar will explore different ways in which you can support learners whose Home Language is not English and provide them with the coping mechanisms they'll need to manage their language acquisition, communicate with you and fellow learners and be more comfortable in a classroom where they often feel out of their depth.

Who is this webinar aimed at? Teachers in an English medium class who have learners who are not home language English speakers.

Booking for this event will close one hour before it is due to begin.
