Cold Water Capers presented by the CLDSA - Ryan Stramrood

Tue Apr 13, 19:30 - Tue Apr 13, 20:15

On-line

ABOUT

Join the CLDSA for our second session of “Cold Water Capers” as we interview inspirational local swimmer and ice swimmer Ryan Stramrood hot off an epic record-breaking swim across False Bay. Ryan's achievements are many - most notably he is the record holder for the most Robben Island crossings - 115 and counting. A dip into Ryan's swimming CV is impressive, and cold: along with his Robben Island achievements he has swum solo across the English Channel, with a team of South Africans, he swam the first official “Ice Mile” in -1°C water in Antarctica, completed a swim in the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon in Iceland, and competed in the IISA World Championships in Borghausen, Germany. And this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

But beyond Ryan’s physical prowess, this born-and-bred Capetonian is a gifted speaker whose telling of a personal journey of challenge and discovery is deeply inspiring. We look forward to hearing what keeps Ryan going, having him share some of his many cold water capers and find out more about that False Bay crossing. Join us.
