ABOUT

Open Futures Keynotes by Futures Alchemist, Charlotte Kemp

In this current bewildering world, where the rules are constantly changing, and disruptions like the COVID pandemic affect the entire world and are decimating industries and where politics has divided us and often times scared us, it is difficult to know what to think about the future, let alone how to plan for it.

Knowing that this problem is not unique to ourselves, our families, businesses, cities, countries, but are in fact being experienced by the whole world, does not comfort us. In fact, the wide spread nature of uncertainty and volatility, this inability to assume that tomorrow will be like yesterday, only hopefully a little better, only serves to make us even more insecure about what tomorrow looks like.

People cannot plan, cannot predict, absolutely cannot assume, often do not even know how to prepare for tomorrow. They are paralysed. Businesses are folding. Plans are put on hold. And if you are one of the fortunate few who feels confident about their future, then you know you are surrounded by others who are not.

So how do we think about the future in this emotional turmoil? How do we be responsible leaders, business owners, consultants in a VUCA world?

In this Open Futures Keynote, Charlotte Kemp will give you insight and models to use to organise your thoughts and to start to create plans for the future.

  • Discover the Futures Cone and how it gives us a broader picture about the future.
  • Understand why you and those around you are stressed by uncertainty.
  • Learn how to create scenarios to plan for multiple potential futures.
